Texas Health and Human Services Scope

a bag labeled “Texas HHS Budget (as of Dec. 2011) - $30 Billion Taxpayer Dollars” with arrows pointing to three circles. The circles are labeled “200+ Programs,” “56,000 State Workers,” and “1,000+ Locations State-Wide.”The Health and Human Services system in the state of Texas is impressive in its scope. HHS receives the second-largest amount of funding in Texas state government, surpassed only by education. In 2011, appropriations for HHS totaled about $30 billion taxpayer dollars.

We must be good stewards of these taxpayer dollars by operating as efficiently as possible. Why? Because efficient operations means more funding for direct services to help Texans in need. Let's explore how a historical transformation of the Texas Health and Human Services

this goal.
