4. Upper East Texas:
Regions 4 and 5 combine to cover all of east Texas.

5. Southeast Texas: Appx 570 employees are housed in 30 offices located throughout the region.

6. Gulf Coast: Also known as the Houston Region.

7. Central Texas: Includes the state capitol—Austin.

8. Upper South Texas: This region's population in 1998 was 2,068,987.

9. Upper Rio Grande: Includes the most western county in the state—El Paso county.

10. Lower South Texas: Serves a 19-county area in the Rio Grande valley
