What I Do

As an employment assistance specialist in Blind Services, I work with consumers who are blind and visually impaired to help them determine what type of assistive technology they need to have access to printed materials or the computer. I also work with employers to assist them in either hiring or keeping employees who are blind or visually impaired. I help employers determine what is needed to make a job accessible. This may include everything from lighting issues to accessing different types of proprietary software.
